The Chief Instructor at The McLeod Academy is Neil McLeod. He has over 20 years experience in martial arts with over 15 years of experience in Jeet Kune Do, Kali, Muay Thai and Grappling under the amazing Bob Breen and Terry Barnett at The Bob Breen Academy, London.
Neil was lucky to train at the Bob Breen Academy when he did as he was exposed to some excellent Martial Artists like Muay Thai Instructors Gary Derreck and Gordon McAdam who are now leading exponents of Indonesian Silat under the excellent Steve Benitez. Many of the well known and top UK Instructors in the Filipino Martial Arts today were students of Bob Breen at the time Neil began his training with him. These included John Harvey, Pat O'Malley, Krishna Godhania, Simon Wells and Lee Banda. Neil has these people and many others to thank for helping him to reach where he is today.
Neil has trained and fought all over the world from Los Angeles, USA to Manila, Philippines and has coached many champions in Full Contact Stick Fighting and coached fighters in Mixed Martial Arts. He is himself a former World Champion in Eskrima and is one of a handful of people to have held the British (18 times), European (4 times) and World titles at the same time. Many of the students from The McLeod Academy have won British and European titles and have travelled to Ireland, Spain and the Philippines to compete against the best.
Neil has competed in many Mixed Martial Arts (No Holds Barred) fights, both in a ring and cage and became the 3 time British Bantamweight Champion. He feels that by competing in these events, he can learn a lot about 'real' one-on-one combat and then honestly pass on his experience to his students.
Neil has credentials in JKD and Kali under Bob Breen and Terry Barnett who are both Full Instructors under Sifu/Guro Dan Inosanto. Neil is a Senior Associate Instructor in Jun Fan Gung Fu/JKD and The Filipino Martial Arts under Sifu/Guro Dan Inosanto and an Instructor in Maphilindo Silat and Majapahit Martial Arts.
Neil is an Instructor in Muay Thai under Gordon McAdam who is one of Master Toddy's top UK Instructors. Neil is also a Representative Instructor in Combat Submission Wrestling (CSW) under Sensei Erik Paulson who is 2 times Lightheavyweight World Shoot Wrestling Champion and a sought after coach in Mixed Martial Arts. Erik currently trains and has trained UFC fighters like Josh Barnett, Ken Shamrock and Renato 'Babalu' Sobral. Lightweight UFC Champion Sean Sherk and his coach Greg Nelson are students/coaches in Erik's methods.
